Ah, Saskatchewan! Land of wheat and Saskatoon berry pies. Home of Canadian kids lit icon Arthur Slade, the Wynyard Chicken Chariot Races, and the Athol Murray College of Notre Dame Archives and Museum which houses some of the rarest books in the world. The place where personal she-ro Joni Mitchell spent her formative years.
I am delighted to be heading out to Saskatchewan this spring as part of Canadian Children’s Book Week 2012. This is a fantastic program that tours authors, illustrators and storytellers across Canada for a week in May.
Are you in Saskatoon or northern Saskatchewan? Want to have me come visit? Or perhaps you are somewhere else in Canada and want to see who is going to be in your neck of the woods? Check out the book week website here to see the list of participants and their locations. You can apply to host a school or a public reading, depending on the needs and location of your particular organization. Applications are due November 20th, 2011. Look out, Saskatchewan! Here I come!
