In April, I left my day job at Penguin Random House Canada to focus on my writing and new opportunities. Here are some of the very exciting things coming down the pike.
TPL Writer in Residence

I am thrilled to be spending June & July as the Toronto Public Library’s Writer in Residence, focusing on YA fiction. As part of this program I will be offering manuscript evaluations and a variety of workshops aimed at adults who want to write for teens. Find out how you can register here.
Open Book Kid Lit Columnist

Join me for monthly musings on the ups and downs of writing for kids. I have spent the last 15 years studying, reading, selling, reviewing, marketing and recommending kids’ books and have amassed a lot of knowledge. You can check out my first column, on the highly-specific micro-genres of kids’ books, here.
Teddy Bear of the Year Virtual Event

Thanks to support from the Writer’s Union National Public Readings program, I am happy to offer a free virtual event. No need to register, just join me live on YouTube on Friday, June 17th at 1pm EST. Bring your snacks, your stuffies, and let me (and some fluffy friends) entertain you! This might be a fun thing for teachers and their classes to tune into, as I know the end of the year can be challenging. Let me entertain your littles for awhile!
Centauri Arts Creative Writing Salons for Teens
I am joining the illustrious staff at Centauri Arts this summer, teaching two week long creative writing camps for teens, one in July (18-23) and the other in August (8-12). These programs are held in-person in the Bloor West Village location.
