Talking Ghosts with Kenneth Oppel and Sachiko Kashiwaba

The Toronto International Festival of Authors kicks off this week, including 30+ kids’ events. I am excited to be moderating a spooky author panel featuring two international superstars, Canada’s own Kenneth Oppel and revered Japanese author, Sachiko Kashiwaba.

GHOSTLIGHT takes place in and around one of my favourite local places, the Toronto Islands. Featuring a tenacious ghost blogger, unexpected cameos from historical figures, and a killer CN Tower scene, you’ll never look at Toronto the same way again. TEMPLE ALLEY SUMMER is an engrossing story-within-a-story featuring Akari, a ghost who materializes 40 years after her death, changing Kazu’s life forever. Suspicious cats, a magic tapestry and an unfinished magazine story create a wonderful sense of atmosphere and mystery. If this is your first introduction to Sachiko Kashiwaba, you’re in luck! Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see one of Japan’s most celebrated children’s authors.

When: Saturday, September 24th at 1pm EST

Where: Brigantine Room (Harbourfront Centre).
